Hello fellow members and readers,
This past weekend we had our very 1st CHS buildOn service of the year. We have to say that the turnout was amazing as a whole and also on Central’s part. Central had the most members present who all did their part in making remembrance flags for those who had fallen on 9/11/2001. The service was a great way to start of the year and there will be many more services like this to come! Enjoy the many pictures of the great service:

Hello, fellow members and viewers.
As we welcome a new school year we will also be welcoming new changes into our program. First and foremost, we are saddened to announce that our former buildOn Program Coordinator, Jessica Jarahian, will no longer be with us for the upcoming school year. As saddened as we are, we are very happy for the opportunity she was given to pursue the career she has always wanted. We will be receiving a new Program Coordinator Laura Reardon, and though Jessica can not be replaced, we can vouch that Laura will be a great asset to Central High School’s buildOn.
In addition to Jessica leaving, our program will be one of the two Southern Ct. programs that will be expanding. This means we will now be required to have 50+ consistent members doing 8 hours a month. We are also receiving substantial funding that will be revoked if we do not meet these requirements. As many of you know, West-hill is currently the leading buildOn school in Ct. and it is our goal to surpass them this upcoming school year. We know that all of you will do your part in all the fundamental areas of buildOn which include Sponsorship, Community Service, and Global Education and will continue to be a part of CHS buildOn prospering.
Thank you,
President and Vice President of Central HS’s buildOn.

Hi Guys heres an update on what Central’s buildOn has been doing over the last few months.
First off, for the last 3 months we have raised around $300 and will continue to do so. We would also like to thank anyone (parents, students, teachers, community members) for their greatly appreciated contribution to the organization.
Second, we would like to congratulate our two buildOn members/officers LaToya McLean and Charwan Lanham for being chosen as the two representatives from Central High-School who went on the 2010 Trek for Knowledge to Nicaragua where the two helped build a school and lived within the community.
Last, we would like to thank all of our buildOn members who continue to go to service and help our community. You have made this year a memorable one.
-If you would like to donate to buildOn please visit buildOn’s main website.
Thank You,
buildOn Officers.

It’s Charwan, your secretary,
I am very proud of how well CHS build On has been as far as the amount of members showing up to the community service and coming out to the meetings. Also i would like to say congradulations to all of you who have helped raise money with Buy-A-Brick, we have raised $786 with Buy-A-Brick alone.
I encourage you to look for volunteering sites during the week if you are unable to make it to services on Saturdays. There are many places in Bridgeport that can use your help.
“Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It’s important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It’s the way in which we ourselves grow and develop.”

Hello, buildOn members.
I can see that you have been using the blog site. I love the new look ![]()
Very informative, especially, to any potential members who can, now, view a list of club officers and the mission of this organization. I like the inclusion of pictures. I can see that you’re having a great time supporting a good cause. I am planning to post some info about this blog on the bulletin board by the cafeteria. When you announce any activities, please,
mention the buildOn blog.
Did I mention that I think you are all amazing? Keep up the good work!
From: Dr. Pagan
(Central teacher advisor)
P.S.
Can I get a copy of the pictures from the March against Violence activity?
I would like to post them on our bulletin
board (especially after the gun incident here)
